Learning to work together through board games

Cooperative Games (for ages three and up!)

We wanted to highlight a few children’s games developed by a brand we discovered several

years ago, Peaceable Kingdom. Designed for ages three years and up, these board games were

created to teach cooperation as opposed to children playing “against” each other to win.

While winning, losing, and working independently are valuable skills, being able to do all of that

as part of a team is, too! Through these games, children are encouraged to share their ideas,

be open to the ideas of others, and work together to achieve a common goal. Children will

learn and help each other while having fun!

While Peaceable Kingdom produces a variety of materials, toys, and games for children, here

are some of our favorites of their cooperative games:

  1. Stone Soup

  2. Hoot, Owl, Hoot

  3. Mermaid Island

  4. Snug as a Bug in a Rug

  5. Shelby’s Snack Shack

  6. Frankie’s Food Truck Fiasco

  7. Frida’s Fruit Fiesta
